Researchers were able to reconstruct the composition of the early Earth's atmosphere with the help of oxygen isotopes in micrometeorites. The work, which was recently published in Nature Communications Earth & Environment, was carried out in cooperation between the University of Göttingen, Ruhr University Bochum, The Open University in England, the University of Pisa and Leibniz University Hannover (IESW, Geochemistry working group).
