Petrology and Geochemistry Research Groups at Goldschmidt 2026 in Montréal
A total of six researchers from the Petrology and Geochemistry research groups of the Section of Mineralogy at the Institute of Earth System Sciences, Leibniz University Hannover, participated in this year's Goldschmidt Conference in Montréal, Canada. Goldschmidt is one of the world's leading conferences in the geosciences, bringing together researchers in geochemistry, mineralogy, and petrology for international scientific exchange. The Hannover delegation presented six talks - including one invited keynote lecture - as well as one poster.
The contributions reflected the broad range of research conducted within the Petrology and Geochemistry groups. Topics included magmatic processes, the development of new geochemical analytical methods, the reconstruction of past environmental conditions, and geochemical processes within the Earth's interior. Additional presentations addressed aspects of economic geology and the geochemical characterization of mineral resources. The invited keynote lecture of Dr. Julie Michaud highlighted recent advances in understanding the formation of tin-bearing granites and their role in ore-forming processes.
In addition to presenting current research results, the conference provided numerous opportunities for scientific exchange with international colleagues, discussions of new research ideas, and networking within the geoscience community. The host city of Montréal also offered an excellent setting for personal interactions and scientific discussions.
We are pleased with the successful participation of the Institute of Earth System Sciences and the international visibility of its research at one of the most important conferences in our field.
