PhyGeo participation in new EU project GREEN TALENT

We are pleased to announce that the PhyGgeo team is part of the newly-funded EU Horizon Europe project GREEN TALENT, which officially started on 1 June 2025. Led by project coordinator Mario Balzan from Ecostack Innovations Malta, this four-year project brings together 17 partners from nine European countries and the USA. The Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology Section already has long-standing research collaborations with Mario Balzan, which will also be continued as part of this project.

GREEN TALENT aims to achieve significant progress in climate resilience and biodiversity conservation. International cooperation in research and innovation is to be promoted through capacity building within the partner organizations and the secondment of employees. During the timespan of the project, four demonstration hubs will be set up in Malta, Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria. These hubs offer space for cooperation between the academic and non-academic sectors and support interdisciplinary dialogue. GREEN TALENT supports the green transition through, among other things, the transfer of practical skills and the creation of openly accessible training materials. These efforts will help to strengthen cross-sector and cross-national collaborations in this important research area.

We are proud to be part of this exciting initiative and look forward to the progress and results that GREEN TALENT will produce. More detailed information can be found here.
