Third Research Colloquium in Hannover: Exchange and Networking in the Geosciences
On April 14, 2026, the third research colloquium took place at the FZ:GEO Research Centre of Leibniz University Hannover. Organized together with partner institutions (BGR, LIAG, LBEG), the event brought together more than 80 geoscientists. The colloquium aimed to present current research, discuss shared challenges, and foster new collaborations, providing an important platform for professional exchange in the region. The program opened with keynote talks by Prof. Dr. Ralph Watzel (BGR) on current developments and geopolitical perspectives in the geosciences, and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Müller (LUH) on new approaches using quantum sensing.
A central element was the poster session featuring around 40 contributions on topics such as critical raw materials, soil, groundwater, and nuclear waste disposal. In addition to regional projects in Lower Saxony, international research activities in regions including Africa, China, and Greenland were also presented.
