On 12 June 2025, Malte Hinsch successfully defended his dissertation entitled ‘Modelling Pollination Ecosystem Service Potential - Assessment of habitat suitability for wild bees at regional level with the involvement of stakeholders’. The thesis deals with various aspects of modelling the regulating ecosystem service ‘pollination’ by wild bees, which is highly relevant for human well-being and biodiversity. The research underlying the dissertation is largely based on work in the ModBien project funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) ‘Spatial modelling of pollination ecosystem services in Lower Saxony for sustainable and regional landscape management’.
