A workshop focussing on Tin deposits and related mineralisations was held at the Mineralogy Section. A total of seven talks were given by MSc and PhD students from the petrology and geochemistry groups in Hannover, as well as students from Universität Münster, BGI Bayreuth, GFZ Potsdam and Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. To connect the young researchers with experienced scientists, two keynotes were given online by Dr. Matthieu Harlaux (BRGM, French Geological Survey, Orléans) and Pr. Dr. Daniel J. Kontak (Laurentian University, Sudbury, Canada).
The workshop was organised in the framework of the DOME priority programme. The aim of DOME is to combine empirical field-related studies that define the geological and mineralogical framework of natural ore systems with experimental work and numerical models that provide a quantitative understanding of the processes involved. The Petrology and Geochemistry groups have participated in the first and seconds funding periods of DOME with a total of six projects.
