The 33rd Annual Conference of the German Crystallographic Society (DGK) took place at Leibniz University from 10 to 13 March 2025. The conference was organised by the following institutes at LUH:

  • Earth System Science (Prof. Claus Rüscher)
  • Anorganic Chemistry (Dr. Yasar Krysiak)
  • Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry (Prof. Armin Feldhoff)
  • Food Chemistry (Prof. Jesko Köhnke)
  • Production Engineering and Machine Tools (Dr. Hilke Petersen)

The latest state of crystallographic research was presented in a total of 24 micro-symposia and 2 poster sessions in the Welfenschloss. The more than 300 national and international participants came from all areas of the highly interdisciplinary field of crystallography, such as chemistry, physics, biology, geosciences and materials science. This is also reflected in the thematic range of the plenary speakers:

  • Prof. Sandro Jahn (Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, LMU Munich): “From crust to core - material properties of the deep Earth”
  • Prof. Dr. Waltraud M. Kriven (Materials Science and Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign): „High Temperature Synchrotron Studies of Ceramics“
  • Prof. Dr. Joke Hadermann (Department of Physics, University of Antwerp) „Crystal Structure Evolution Tracking“
  • Prof. Andrew Goodwin (Department of Chemistry, University of Oxford) „Truchet-Tile Architecture in Material Chemistry“
  • Prof. Dr. Ingrid Span (Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg): „FeFe Hydrogenases in Biotechnology“
  • Prof. Dr. Dr. Clemens Richert (Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Stuttgart): „Organic Crystallization Chaperones and Studies on the Origin of Translation“

We would like to thank all participants and visitors, as well as the helpers who ensured that the conference ran smoothly.
